Program Name: Verification of Casual Daily Laborer (CDL) Issues at the PT Agro Kati Lama Plantation
LINKS, in collaboration with SIPEF Group, conducted a verification of Casual Daily Laborer (CDL) issues at their subsidiary plantation, PT Agro Kati Lama (PT AKL), located in Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province.
This verification activity aimed to investigate the root causes of conflicts and analyze cases involving complaints of non-compliance with the rights of casual daily laborers at the PT AKL plantation. The complaints were submitted by Sawit Watch (SW) and the Serikat Buruh Sawit Sejahtera (SBSS) through the RSPO Grievance Unit on January 22, 2021, with Reference Number: RSPO/2021/01/EN. The verification activities were conducted from March to August 2021, involving approximately 207 respondents from employee and labor union representatives, PT AKL management representatives, and Sawit Watch.
By the end of August 2021, this verification activity successfully identified the root causes of conflicts related to the complaints of non-compliance with the rights of casual daily laborers at the PT AKL plantation. It also resulted in several recommendations that were subsequently followed up by PT AKL management action plans. These recommendations were discussed in mediation meetings facilitated by the Dispute Settlement Facility (DSF) of RSPO to reach an agreement to resolve these complaints.
